First Iowa Cavalry occupation of Osceola

In searching for steamboat information relative to the Osage river during the civil war, I ran across a reference to the steamboat SILVER LAKE taking a load of rations to Osceola for the First Iowa Cavalry which was occupying the town in April, 1862. Can anyone fill me in on particulars of how many federal troops were in Osceola and about how long they occupied the town.

Also, any information concerning steamboats on the Osage during the Civil War would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance,
Maggie
