I've been trying to figure out where "Compton's Ferry" (as in battle of) actually was. The Livingston County History of the time doesn't say where but only a vague reference to southwest Livingston county. (The other location references for other events are not much more helpful in current context either.) One might suppose it would be east of the confluence of the Thompson and Grand River. From reading some of the accounts one wonders if it was even in the county or on the Grand. If someone has already mapped out the episodes leading up to this battle (and/or those after) it would be helpful.
