In Response To: Negro Marauders Cape Co., MO ()

There were also Negro marauders riding with the Red Leg outlaws from Kansas raiding Buchanan and Platte Counties in northwest MO. I just found reference to them in the book
"History of Buchanan County and the city of St. Joseph and representative citizens: 1826 to 1904 (1904). Pg 167, describes the formation of the Paw Paw Militia in response to cross border raids by armed Negroes accompanied by Red Leg outlaws. Mentions that some of negroes may have been in army but most were just outlaws.

To easily access the book, check out the response to my question about MidKnight Rangers here on the forum. Book is downloadable and full of names of local residents and military members. No mention of anyone in my family though.
