Re: Poole / Anderson July 1863 German settlement r

Just found this today. It establishes that Thomas and Martin were bushwhackers, were with Bill Greenwood, and were sons of Anderson Wrren.

John Wilson states that Thomas Payne and Thomas Warren and two or three other bushwhackers are staying at Martin Warren's, 15 or so miles from here, 4 miles east of the Longacre's house.
Heard Payne say that he was with others who fired on the Kansas Redlegs & wounding two.
He has been staying at Leroy L. Hills two or three weeks until a week past and left there then.
Thomas Warren is a son of Anderson Warren & brother of Martin Warren. Leroy Hill came from Sedalia 8 or 10 days since and the above men were seen there by Mr. Hill.
Martin Warren is a man of considerable property & has taken ----? witness is informed.
Morry Boswell has a horse 12 an sorrel baldface which he rode in Price's Army at Lexington, witness saw him bringing up cannon & saw him with pistols. Boswell has a saddle with government stirrups on. A horse was stolen from witnesses father, Beng. N. Wilson by bushwhackers last winter and kept at Boswells stable. Boswell's son in law Thomas Dale was with Payne, Charles Potee, and Warren at the time they fired on the troops. Theey were at Boswells the day before they fired on the troops. Bill Greenwood is a notorious fellow, an one time Capt. of a squad. Stopped Leroy Hill sorry Leroy L. Hill in the road & threatened to shoot him, sometime last winter.
