The Missouri in the Civil War Message Board

Cole Younger

I have seldom experienced such a degree of fairness regarding my Great-Great Uncle Thomas Coleman Younger. Not everyone is heatedly against him and neither are they throwing a banquet for him in his honor as well. Should it have been too strongly in or out of his favor, I would have lost trust in both sides. I congratulate this website for their cool headed reserved judgment, holding back of today’s media procession in the art form of habitually jumping to dogmatic conclusions of selling what is popular rather than truth. I will add through my uncle's hard determination of finding his Great Grandmother and Great Grandfather's unmarked graves has added at least two more by marriage in the immediate Younger Family Tree through the name of Morrison & Combs. We must be vigilant to the claims of the media past and present. They were as vicious in the 1860s as well as today. The only difference is in the 1860's they could not misinform you as fast and efficient as they do today. The media treated Charles Lindberg as a hero in 1927 but as a traitor to America before and during World War II, and then as a hero again after the war. The media's of today are like fickled lovers, singing praises of you one day, and screaming rape to throw you behind bars the next. My uncle has recently written a book that includes some additional information about the younger’s titled Pivotal Moments at www.pivotalmoments64.com. I would appreciate any information about the Younger Family after they were paroled, and photos as well. Once again to this website, thank you!
