McGehee's Regiment, Arkansas Cavalry

I am looking for some background on McGhee's Regiment, the 44th Arkansas Mounted Infantry/29th Arkansas Cavalry. McGehee's Regiment, Arkansas Cavalry

According to the National Park Servie Site, the unit was organized during the fall of 1863. It saw some light action in Arkansas, then was assigned to A.S. Dobbin's Brigade, Trans-Mississippi Department. The unit took an active part in Price's Missouri Expedition and after suffering heavy casualties at Westport, disbanded. Its field officers were Colonel James McGehee and Lieutenant Colonel Jesse S. Grider.

but the only references that I find to it so far are in connection with Price's Raid. I know that at least two of the companies for the regiment came from Coss County, Arkansas. Does anyone have more information on the orgions of this regiment?
