Interesting to read through his forage and gear receipts for his company. For example

1 pair shoes at Burgess Mill Jackson Co. Arkansas May 20th 1863.

From July 23rd to August 4th 1863 he and 30 horsemen on detached duty as scout from camp at Russell's Ferry Arkansas to Crowley's Ridge ....

August 5th to August 10th Picket duty at Waddell's Mill out of Russell Ferry Arkansas for he and 9 men...

Scouting with 36 men from Camp near Pocahantas Ark to Missouri State Line and return, August 13 to August 21...

Clothing at Arkadelphia Ark. Sept 24 1963.

They obviously got around quite a bit and it appears he mounted no more than 50 in his scouting company and then Company F.
