That is a marvelous set of letters Jinny. This is the first direct evidence I have found of any version of events that occurred on 4 October 1863 at Neosho. Brookshire was part of McAfee's battalion Captured at Neosho by Shelby. I would very much like to have a copy of that letter to go into the 6th MSM Archives. It also is clear that members of Company H were at Neosho when it was attacked, the balance of the company was with the wagon train escorting weapons destined for Phillips' Union Indian Brigade.
