Otterville Kidd Gibbons

From a biography of George Washington Harvey in Butte County California came this info:
Born April 14, 1845 in Bates County MO. Living in Bates County in 1861.

"He turned the prairie sod of southwestern Missouri before the War; and on the last day of February, 1861, quit school. He went to work, but for four years he was also in the ranks as a soldier. Much of his service was in scouting; he was made a prisoner but was never wounded. He was in Sedalia when the scouts of Price's army killed Kidd and Gibbons at Otterville, and was in the battle line all night."

Much mystery from this entry. I can't find this George Washington Harvey in the soldier databases. I've gone through all the Mo SOS and NPS options...GW, Geo, George, G. and a different George Washingon Harvey. I tracked each man to figure out who would have been in Sedalia during an Otterville skirmish. No luck. His uncles were in 7th MO Cav (union). I've been guessing that he might have ridden with them as a scout and perhaps listed in some archive as a non-soldier.. I can't find a prisoner entry on line for him either. Suggestions?

Who are Kidd and Gibbons? Famous people? I can't find them in NPS or MO SOS on-line databases in units that I can link to the Otterville skirmishes. My thought was --if I can igure out something about Kidd and Gibbons, I could figure out which groups were in Sedalia. Suggestions?
