Thank you for the 2 links you provided, the information therein dovetails with the information I have timewise.I suspicion the reason he deserted in July, 1863 had to do with the fact his less than 2 year old son had died just prior to this time and due to hostile neighbors his young wife was forced to bury the child herself as no one would give her any help. I appreciate your research in the matter.
