The answer is no. Although, throughout the years and wars, the standards of "wounded in action" have varied in application by various commanders. Generally (and correctly), a combat wound is one that REQUIRES medical attention. A minor bandaid type wound does not qualify as a combat wound. I have seen soldiers get a Purple Heart for minor wounds in some units. I served in the 1st Air Cavalry Division in Vietnam, and our standard was as I described above.
