I'm the "Dorsey relative" that Kirby Ross referred to and am researching the two Caleb Dorseys who lived in central California in the 1880's - one from Maryland, an attorney who was not involved in the war effort and your Caleb. I've been reading your posts on his history with great interest. I just returned from a two day trip to Oakdale and Modesto and spent a good deal of time looking at old newspaper records on microfilm, probate records, etc. If there's anything you'd like to know about that period - I can tell you. By the way, neither brother, Thomas Beale Dorsey, nor John Worthington Dorsey, were active in the war. They were both in California during that period. I'm very interested in knowing about how/why they were in Texas at the end of the war, and more about the reasons for Price and his followers including Dorsey went to Mexico. Can you fill me in?
