Re: Black Confederate in "Ride With The Devil" mov
Evelyn,
I see your GGG fought with Co.I as my wife's GG fought in Co.G. His name was Elisha Miller. I do have Mr. Williams book on the 33rd.
A couple of years ago, I was contacted by a woman in Fl. who's GGG fought in the 33rd (Co.C) also. She was fortunate enough to have many letters he wrote his wife giving an insight as to what life & fighting was like. Unfortunately, the letters stop coming after the battle of Atlanta & a friend wrote later that he had been killed & was hastily buried.
Anyway, she was kind enough to make me some copies.
I have researched Elisha from birth to death & & have his Confederate military records along with census records & family history. Researching is fascinating.
Besides Widow of the South, & Mr. Williams book on the 33rd, I would recommend; Perryville by Kenneth Noe. The 33rd lost heavily including the men lost in the train wreck. Elisha received back injuries in that wreck which plagued him throughout his life.
