Camden County

I am fairly certain one of my gggg grandfathers was Adam Kinder, listed in Camden County in the 1860 census. He was in his early fifties when the war started, and apparently died during the war years.

Interestingly, I note that there were about 17 Kinder households listed in Camden County in the 1860 census. There are absolutely none listed in the 1870 census, and some of the 1860 Camden County Kinders were in Cape Girardaeu County in the 1870 census.

I am wondering, were there any wartime events or violence in Camden County which could have led to this family's mass exodus? Was the county particulary Unionist or Secessionist, etc.?
