Some of that is covered in the book. His brother Samuel was a minister in St. Louis who got cross with the Federal authorities and was removed from his church. To make a long story short, Samuel eventually got an audience with Abraham Lincoln. Samuel also wrote a book about his experiences. Several of Samuel's descendants are still in St. Louis.

Both of William McPheeters' sons died during the war, his two daughters Sally and Maggy survived the war. One married a son of Sterling Price and I forget who the other married. Many of the immediate McPheeters family are buried in the Belle Fonte (sp?) Cemetery in St. Louis.
