Hi Elmer -
I have run across this soldier in Jeffrey's 8th MO Cavalry before, I was stymied by the lack of info re his age, home address, etc.
My gg-gf Wm. Carroll Byrd sold his land there in SE Iron Co. for ONE DOLLAR (!!!!) to a local J.P. by the surname of Shaver. In March of 1863, he rebuys his land from said J.P. Shaver for the same ONE DOLLAR (!!!!) and then sells it all to Mr. Roberts (I think) that same day. Also, Wm. Carroll Byrd was delinquent in his land taxes for the years 1860-1865. I obtained these documents from the Ironton Courthouse several years ago.
I guess it could be possible that Wm. Carroll Byrd was in Jeffrey's 8th MO Cav., but would need some documentation re the age and home address/county of said soldier???
Wm. Carroll Byrd's brother-in-law, Wm. Alexander Jackson served in Clardy's MO Cavalry; I was able to confirm his service with age and home address info from his surrender/parole documents in 1865.
Do you have access to any age/POB/home address info for Pvt. Wm. Byrd in Jeffrey's 8th MO Cavalry perchance....???
y.v.o.s.,
Kenneth Byrd
