Michael, you have pretty much reinforced what I knew but was and am still unsure. I am in the process of assembling the roster of the regiment and was sorting out the Field and Staff when it abruptly came to me with some embarrassment that I hadn't anything on Coffee in the regimental records. We know he was elected but apparently it was negated with his arrest. By the time the charges were dismissed Hindman had appointed another Colonel, causing further problems. Mass desertions followed in short order. I am sure the CSR's will clarify the situation involving Coffee's later commands. George Nichols is another I will have to get help with, I have very little on him.
