There's just a little over 3 pages about the civil war in Ripley County. Some additional information is found in the community profiles. The bibliography credits Bruce Nichols "Guerrilla Warfare in Civil Missouri" and Kirby Ross' "Autobiography of Samuel S. Hildebrand" and "The Burning of Doniphan". If you are a native of Ripley County I think you would find this very interesting. A copy can be purchased at the Ripley County Historical Society in Doniphan. If you are doing research there is no better source than this message board which includes Mr. Nichols, Mr. Ross and others on a regular basis. Thanks guys for helping out all of us novices.
