Thanks so much. The story of Zaa Kimberlin excaping in Sedalia is wonderful - wonder what he did with the cannon ball chaned to his leg. A good number of Kimberlin descendents were named Zaa and Zay after Isaiah. I have a photo of 4 Kimberlin brothers who served in the CW and will post a link to it when I put it online. It was sent to me by a descendent of their sister, Armenta Kimberlin Burris. They are now listed with the unit (Co. D., 12 MO Cav.) they served with in the Civil War Historical Notes of the Watts Hays Letters. The 2nd MO Cav, which became the 12th MO Cav. in late 1862 was Upton Hays' Jackson Co., Brigade. Shanks was their 4th Colonel and led them in Price's 1864 Raid into Missouri. Hays was their cousin's husband.
