Re: Webster Co Home Guard

Oops! Kirby Ross is going to get after me. I must correct a statement in the prior post on Elias Martin. The 1861 Home Guard Units authorized by Lyon were technically Federal Units. For more, check his page on Civil War St. Louis.

WEBSTER COUNTY REGIMENT HOME GUARD INFANTRY.
Organized July, 1861, by authority issued by General Lyon, commanding Dept. of MO, dated June 10, 1861, and continued in service from July, 1861, stationed at Springfield, MO, and other points until Aug. 18, 1861 when it was
disbanded.

Co.D (107 men)

1st Lt. G. W. Sheton
