Re: William Coats, Guerrilla of Texas County

Hello, I am a descendant of Jesse F and Mildred (Crain) Burditt. Jesse was a son of William and Patience (?Delacy)(Hart)Burdett. Jesse served the Republic of Texas by going across on Gaines Ferry to Ft. Jessup (sp) Louisiana to pick up the mail. His son-in-law, Joseph Rowe, was Speaker of the House for the Republic of Texas. He signed the pay vouchers. Joseph Rowe was married to Lavinia Burditt. When Lavina died early on, her father, Jesse Burditt, intervened in the distribution of her property. He wanted to preserve the family groups of slaves which had been a part of the Burdett/Burditt family for earlier generations. Another daughter was married to Vice President Kenneth Anderson for whom Anderson County is named. Jesse and Mildred Burditt are buried in Fiskville Cemetery, Travis County, TX. My line is through a daughter, Martha Elizabeth Burditt who married Andrew M. Davidson. Their daughter, Martha/Mattie married Silas William Beam of Virginia.
