Battle of Adairsville, GA

I am hoping that someone can assist me. I am trying to find out if the 6th Missouri Infantry, Company B, participated in the battle of Adairsville, GA ?
I had seem mentioned in a website that the Missouri Brigade from May 6, 1864 traveled over 200 miles in 11 days to join the Army of Tennessee, that would make their arrival in the area May 17. Also, do you know if they ever fought under William Hardee? I believe the 6th could have been part of the troops (under Hardee) that Johnston sent to Kingston the night of May 17-18. I am trying to find out what battle my relative was wounded in and according to his military records died May 20, 1864.

I was told by someone that was familiar with Gottchalk's writings that the Brigade had just arrived in Rome, GA on May 18, and had no fighting. I have continued doing research and found their was a lot of fighting during this time and do not want to prove anyone wrong, but it is important to me to trace my GGG grandfather's steps. His name was John McLaughlin of Daviess County, Missouri. I have traced him from a prison in St. Louis to Vicksburg, and am trying to find his grave. I am planning a visit to Georgia in a few weeks to continue my research.

Thank you for your website!
