In his book "Kirby Smith's Confederac" Robert L. Kerby states that Lt. Gen. Edmund Kirby Smith originally planned to invade Missouri in July, 1864 but that the event was delayed until late August because Braxton Bragg tried to transfer Trans-Mississippi troops across the Mississippi.
My questions are:
1. Did Smith originally plan a Missouri invasion with both infantry and cavalry?
2. Was the Paw-Paw rebellion in North Missouri timed to occur simultaneously with the original July invasion?
