Note: William Calvin Tate was one of six men murdered near Lone Jack, Missouri on 6 Sept 1863 for being a known sourthern sympathizers. As they were preparing to leave the county to comply with Order # 11 they were taken from their homes by a squad of soldiers belonging to the 9th Kansas Regiment , under the command of Captain C.F. Coleman and taken to a nearby farm where they were murdered in cold blood. He left behind his wife and three small children.

There is a Tate-Hunter connection in Surrey Co N.C. that needs to be worked out. I do not see a close relation of William C Tate to William P or David but suspect that they are of the same tree.

Owen Dunn Tate is John's brother who died(killed?) in Sept 1861 Jackson Co. MO.
