This is my first post on this board and I’m hoping it’s still active. I have found a lot of info on Young A Purcell here but most of the discussions appear many years old.

I’m interested in learning anything about the weapons YA Purcell carried during the war, because I recently received a pistol from my father-in-law that originated with YA Purcell.

My father-in-law received the pistol from his father who was a doctor in Marshall, MO for decades in the early 1900s. His father received the pistol in exchange for medical care he provided to George Purcell, the eldest son of YA Purcell. George Purcell related that the pistol was given to him by his father, but there were no details on whether it was one he carried in the war. The pistol date of manufacture is early enough that it could have been used in the war.

I’m hoping to learn anything I can before early May, when I hope to take the pistol to a local taping of Antiques Roadshow in Tucson, AZ.
