We've worked on this question on this board once or twice. I've since developed new research that ticks off several "Where does Bill Anderson hail from" boxes. Note it provides a direct line of descent from the Baker family, which has been speculated on this board as being a possibility since the "Baker" surname keeps popping up incessantly, to the point of distraction, in my research (for a recent Baker overview see: http://www.history-sites.com/cgi-bin/bbs62x/mocwmb/webbbs_config.pl?md=read;id=24343 )
From the Feb. 7, 1924 Olathe (Ks) Mirror--
Bill Anderson
1862 Residence: Olathe, Johnson County, Kansas
Parents: William Anderson and Martha Jane Thomasson
Place of Birth: Randolph County, Mo.
Ancestry 1: "Comes from one of the oldest and best known families of the South and Wales, being great great grandson of Lord Baker, of England, deceased."
Ancestry 2: Ancillary Baker/Anderson Branch as of 1924--related to Miss Margaret W. Boyd, 589 Williams Ave., Portland, Ore.
Working up from Anderson to identify "Lord Baker." If that can be done, we would then be able to follow Lord Baker's lineage back down to see how all these other Bakers Anderson was killing and was targeting were related to him. Anderson was born ca. 1840. My own great great grandfathers were born around 100-130 years before I was. Using that timeframe as a template, Lord Baker may have been born in Wales or England ca. 1710-1740 +/-.
Additional data: In early-mid 1862 Bill Anderson was supposedly wounded in Johnson County gunfight and consequently spent 3-4 months in Johnson County Jail in Olathe before being transferred to Leavenworth, where he escaped. Subsequently joined Quantrill in his raid on Olathe on Sept. 6, 1862.
