I also found this just after my last posting, which makes it seems the masonic Samuel Todd stayed in New Orleans :

"SAMUEL MANNING TODD: Born Sept. 15, 1815: died Feb 1, 1905.
He served the Grand Lodge of Louisiana as Grand Master, 1859, 1869-72; Grand Treasurer, 1861, 1867-68; Grand Secretary, 1862-66; Grand Recorder Grand Commandery, 1864; Grand Commander, 1866-67; Grand Treasurer, 1874 to 1901; Thirty-third, Honorarium, Supreme Council, Southern Jurisdiction, and elected Grand Auditor, ad vitam in 1870, and served in that capacity until his death; captain in Co. A. Louisiana Guards, Confederate Army."
