Having said that I have seen no references to the Williams gun in the Confederate garrison, I neglected to say that the Confederates did have one or two 2-pounder breechloaders (Hughes guns?). The one about which I have seen a solid reference was on the left end of the line and somewhere along where the 39th Mississippi Infantry was located. This is no where near Bacon and the 6th Michigan, but this piece or the "elusive" second piece might have been moved to the southern end of the siege works.
