Need Details on Louisiana Brothers

I am looking for physical trails for two Louisiana brothers: Charles Edward Morse and Mark Anthony Morse.

In 2014, George Martin had attempted to help Roxie Davis find her Great Great Grand Uncle (Charles Edward Morse). He (and his brother) is also a member of my family.

CHARLES EDWARD MORSE --Infantry (found under "Charles Morse", "Chas. Morse", and "Charles Muse")
Our family had believed that he had died on April 2, 1865 at Fort Gregg (near Petersburg, Virginia). However, his obituary had his death as April 21st. George had suggested that since the surrender had happened BEFORE the 21st, that perhaps Charles had been wounded before the surrender, but did not succumb to his injuries until AFTER the surrender.

We believed that the Charles Edward Morse ("Chas" Morse) that had been buried at Fort Gregg, before being moved to Poplar Grove Cemetery. All of our searches led us to believe that he had been buried in a spot, however a Massachusetts soldier's info had been assigned to the marker (as well as all written records). The mystery is that the person who is supposedly buried there, actually survived the Civil War and returned to Massachusetts.

Back in 2014, Roxie Davis didn't seem to get an answer about where Charles Edward Morse was buried. I'm hoping that being 2021, more details might be available.

MARK ANTHONY MORSE -- Artillery, later being a shipwright on the Alabama River until taken prisoner
Mark had been with Watson's Battery and Louisiana Light Artillery and then seemed to leave the military (Deserted? Captured and paroled at Vicksburg?) and ended up working as a shipwright along the Alabama River until captured.

When the War was over, he was released. Many years later, he applied for and received the Confederate Soldier Pension (its Application was great way to learn information about the soldier's history), which was then passed down to his wife.

We are trying to find out more about how he "left" the military, when he started working along the Alabama River, what he did in between the two timeframes, and where he was kept after he was captured.

I have Ancestry.com, Fold3, FamilySearch, access to Library of Congress, etc. As far as I know, I have all of the information on the two brothers.

Any suggestions?
