Capt. B S Tappan is shown the commanding officer of Co H and was murdered on 10 sept 1862 shortly after the regiment formed by expanding Breazeale's Battalion. This is according to Guide to La Confederate Military Units. Booths shows him as KIA but there was no action recorded for that date. Does anyone have the complete story on what happened?
