Re: John Morrison, 6th or 8th LA Inf.

John, there was a John Morrison in Co. K, 8th Louisiana Infantry. His service record below:
Morrison, John, Private

John Morrison was a 47-year old native of Ireland in 1861. He was working as a mason in Ascension Parish when he enlisted at Camp Moore on June 19th, 1861. John was sick a great deal up to being wounded at 2nd Fredericksburg on May 4th, 1863. He recuperated at Charlottesville, VA and was sick or absent without leave from July 1863 to Oct. 1864. He rejoined his Company on Oct. 24th, 1864 and was then captured at the fall of Petersburg on April 3rd, 1865. He was sent to Hart's Island, NY and then released on his Oath of Allegiance on June 14th, 1865.

I have not found him post-war. Would you mind putting the reference to his death on this site. Thanks.
