In Response To: George P. Ring ()

anything about his short postwar life

I came across an article that may be of interest or maybe not:

The following information came from an article appearing May 28, 1866 in the New Orleans Daily Crescent.

George P. Ring was a member of the Hays' Brigade Relief Association and served on the Credentials Committee with 9 other men. This committee determined who was entitled to be a member of the association.

The Hays' Brigade Relief Association made provision for:
1. the aid of indigent members of the brigade
2. the relief of families of those who died during the war
3. to bring home remains of deceased comrades
4. to erect a monument to the memory of the glorious dead
5. to collect and preserve all records bearing upon the history of the brigade

I do not have access to his obituary.

Regards--
