Re: Lecture on General Leonidas Polk

I wish I could attend and hear the lecture, but that is impossible.
If memory serves me correctly,
Bishop Polk set the Corner Stone in about 1839 or may 1849, of Christ Episcopal Church in Vicksburg. Christ Church is the Oldest Church building in Vicksburg. The S C V held our Memorial Service in Christ Church at our National a few years past.
Bishop Polk also laid, if memory serves me correctly, the Corner Stone at the Episcopal Church in Woodville, Mississippi, Jefferson Davis' Church when he is a youngster.
And during the War, when he moved into Kentucky, he beat Judge Simrall who was the Confederate Lt Governor of Kentucky, out of his job.
Judge Simrall did many things in later life and is today buried in an unmarked and unknown grave in the Glass - Letourneau area just south of Vicksburg,
