my mistake fellows...it is Ile (island) Copal...I believe following the Mexican war, Alfred resigned from the 7th U.S. Cavalry (2nd lt.) and took care of what was considered 'the family farm' @ Ile Copal,I don't believe Ile Copal was actually his. The 1860 census stated he owned 13 slaves @ his Carencro farm.
On 3.16.64 his 5th child Cecelia was born and it's possible his wife was being cared for at Ile Copal (no proof of this) two weeks later Alfred was killed at Mansfield.
Just wanted to know if anyone knew the location of his Carencro home.
