Re: Can Louisiana soldier be identified?

Company K, Anacoco Rangers was from the Anacoco, Louisiana area in Vernon Parish. The Nathan Smart Society, which has a facebook page, I believe has some additional information on Lewis Wilson Smart. What I've seen on him in "The Civil War Veterans of Old Imperial Calcasieu Parish, Louisiana" is attributed to the Nathan Smart Society. It shows his death in June, 1864 and his burial in the Confederate Cemetery in Columbus, Ga. They have his birth as 12 May 1828 in Marion County, Mississippi and his parents Nathan Smart and Louisa Jane Tynes. They have his marriage to Julia Ann Barnett in 1850 in Calcasieu Parish, Louisiana, and four children. His residence is listed in Beauregard Parish, which at that time was part of Calcasieu Parish. I have seen the original Anacoco Rangers battleflag, but I don't know who currently has it. It was once on display at the Merryville, La. museum during a reenactment. It is a First National Confederate type flag, and was in the Battle of Shiloh, with bullet holes and blood stains, if I remember correctly. It was brought home after Shiloh because company level flags were no longer allowed. I believe the flag was used by a home guard company after that and was prominently displayed after the war at Nathan Smart Family reunions.
