Re: Opelousas Road-Red River Campaign

The Burrs Ferry Road departed (w) Alexandria and went to Paul,La (Elmer,La today) then Hineston,La. etc...Slighlty East of Paul the Opelousas Road formed a junction on the South side with the Burr Ferry Road. The Opelousas Road continued in a Sout East direction. It connected with a road that entered Alexandria from the South (hwy 71 ? I do not know the roads of that time in that area). I'm presuming the ridge for hwy 71 was basically used at that time and if it was, where did the Opelousas Road form it's junction with hwy 71, or the road being used at that time ?
This road must have been used to transfer Gen. Taylors force from Mcnutt Hill-Wilsons Landing and Marksville (via LLoyd's Bridge) in late April early May 1864.
