Re: Confederate commanders Red River Campaign

George,

Thanks for the documentation from the OR's. One item to mention in Bee's report. Likens' Regt arrived piecemeal and fell in with Terrell's Regiment at the Battle of Mansfield. More men from Likens' 35th Texas Cavalry Regiment and from Gould's 23rd Texas Cavalry Regiment arrived in time to fight at Pleasant Hill, with Peter Woods' 36th Texas Cavalry arriving just as the battle ended. Straggling of some of the cavalry regiments which had traveled from Columbus at breakneck speed caused them to be understrength. Consider regiments like Woods had been ordered dismounted just before the call to go to Louisiana so it's a miracle they arrived as fast as they did.The 2nd Louisiana Cavalry Regiment was also under Bee.

I know this is a little more information than was requested in the original post but felt clarification was necessary, and thank you again for posting the item from the OR's to help answer the initial query.
