Bird Plantation and Pierce Landing

The activity sheet for XIX Corps,Third Brigade,First Division states as follows:
5.13.1864= left Alexandria at 7 a.m. marched 15 miles to Osbornes
5.14 = moved at 5:30 a.m. to Birds Plantation 6 miles from Cheneyville and encamped.
5.15 = 5 a.m. marched to Marksville
I believe (not certain) this was Col. Thomas Hubbards force (162 n.y. inf.,165 n.y. inf.,173 n.y. inf., 25 n.y. art., 1st u.s. l. art., 1st vermont art).
On the 14th at Wilsons Landing Gen. Emory (from what I understand) mentions 2 roads one of which leads Southwards from near Wilsons Landing
in which Pierces Landing is mentioned. Where are these 2 locations, and, what was the purpose in sending them to Birds (secure the South flank) ?
From Cheneyville did the U.S. force go back to the Hwy 1 route of today to arrive at Marksville , or ,did they arrive at Marksville by another route.
