In Response To: Zouave in AOM ()

In a letter home from Shiloh (Corinth), an officer of the 16th LA wrote, "The Crescent Regiment from New Orleans is here… It is composed of dandies, Canal street men of Garabaldi Collar & Zouave pantaloons." In modern commentary I have seen others refer to the Zouave uniforms of the Crescent, but that doesn't match up with any contemporary accounts I have seen except for this one. From what I have read Garabaldi shirts were traditionally red. If you find something definite I would sure like to know.
