John Flannery, Private, Captain Henry Strong’s Company (Calhoun Guards), 6th Regiment Louisiana Infantry,* enlisted May 29, 1861 at New Orleans, La. by Lt. Col. W. Forstall for one year, participated in engagements through July 1, 1862 at Malvern Hill, discharged November 22, 1862 “Never acquire a Domicle”, on enlistment a single, 23 year old cook, subject of Great Britain, born in Tipperary, Ireland, resident of New Orleans arriving in 1859, by calling a sailor, always intending to return to England, subsequently carried on regimental books as discharged “an alien enemy to the South”

* This company subsequently became Company B, 6th Regiment Louisiana Infantry
