Based on this, the Carroll Jones house would be somewhere in the vicinity of the present day intersection of State routes 8 & 118

He lived in the Piney Woods, near the Clifton settlement, on Pine Coupée Creek before removing to Natchitoches Parish in 1869. He did considerable trading and speculating in livestock. His crossroads location brought drovers and migrants to his corn bins. His farm was a storage depot for horses, livestock, and corn during the Civil War. Gen. Richard Taylor's (q.v.) troops camped there and Gen. Alfred Mouton (q.v.) readied for battle formation on the site.
