Benton reaches Deloges Bluff at 8 a.m. (after meeting with Gen. Brent at Mrs. Griffins on Natchitoches Road at dawn) and is set up for battle at around 10 a.m. on 4.26 atop the bluff, and remeains there until 4.27 ,at which time he claims to be ordered off the bluff by Gen. Wharton.
When Gen Taylor sent in his report for Deloges Bluff on 4.27 to S.S. Anderson ,he mentions Cornay's Battery was positioned at the Cane River and Red River intersection...
Is this an oversight by Taylor,or, were the Confederates (Cornay) following the decending ships,or, is it possible that both artilley groups converged upon the ships from different angles ?
Tayor's report is what made me wonder...Taylor mentions Liddell's forces assisting as well (probably on the opposong side of Red River)
