Wounded at Jackson's side at Chancellorsville, captured and sent to hospital/Old Capitol prison in Washington. Exchanged at City Point, Va. 12June63. Detailed as courier/scout for Gen. Ewell until Dec.63. Transferred to Co.C 39th Battalion Va Cavalry 21Dec63 serving as scout/courier. With Lee at Appomattox (held Traveller in the yard at McLean House) 9Apr65.
