Michael, I don't remember if we have talked before but I did some research on William Brainerd Spencer a while back. He was indeed a Captain in the 11th battalion and later in the Consolidated Crescent. If you've been researching I'm sure you've seen his Wikipedia page as well as his bio in the Congressional Biographies. I have a small proof printing of an engraving purported to be of him in his older years. I sent a copy to the Congressional Archives and they said it was not a part of their records. May have been done for a newspaper article possibly. I would be glad to send you a scan if you are interested. I would also be very interested on anything you have on his service.
