Re: 1st Company Washington Artillery

Thanks again.

Robert H. Barrow, another ancestor on my mom's side, was a lt. col. in the 11th LA. The spencer individuals are on my dad's side. Another Barrow ancestor, Robert Ruffin Barrow, was H. L. Hunley's brother in law and financial backer of the confederate submarine Hunley. Arias and William Spencer (brothers) were captured near Natchez 1 April 1864 and sent to Johnson's Island. Both survived and were released 16 Feb 1865. While at Johnson's Island, William carved buttons which are on display at the Confederate Museum in New Orleans. Another Spencer brother, Samuel Walker Spencer, was in Wheat's Battn. and kia Second Manassas.
