Hello George and thanks, I was somewhat familiar with this report. You are seeing the same information I am and those POW records reported their capture in December 1863 near Natchez. We may in fact have two such captures one in November and the other in December? If not one of these two primary sources are wrong. As we know not all reports made it into the OR's. We know at least two officers were taken as prisoners. Captain Van Thomas returned to Franklin Parish after the war and became a judge and died in 1872. Camp Chase research is going to prevent me from doing more research into this area. Hopefully someone else may have the time.
