It does not appear that these two John’s are the same. I have no answer as to the John/Conrad connection. Appears to be the same individual.

Suggest you search the Census records. Ancestry.com is a good place to go, unfortunately, I no longer have access.

As you can see, there are a number of variant spellings of the name.
