This is a link to an interesting Confederate Veteran article concerning the Second Battle of Winchester and the role of the 1st Louisiana Brigade in capturing the main Union fort. When researching "Lee's Tigers," I came across a letter that confirmed this story that Gen. Richard Ewell ordered the hill be designated "Louisiana Heights" on all military maps.
