Hello William, I understand you're looking for James Anderson however you may have to expand your search. There are dozens of possibilities including the spelling of the surname. The surname may be Andersen as just one example.

And then you have the issue of the given name James. I've saw James become John or Jonathan or Jas. etc. Another problem seems to have been two soldiers in the same unit having the same given and surname. At times a soldier whose name may have been James Anderson may have elected to use his middle name to avoid mistakes with the unit.

It can be a lot of work but rewarding when you find the answer. I wish all were as easy as just entering a given name and surname and finding the answer in 1.2 seconds.

I was reading posts by other parties and noticed that someone seemed to think the age was not correct because of a source. This probably was true however I try and have at least two sources to fall back on if possible. At times I've had two primary sources have opposite information.

Using Andrew Booth's Louisiana information would be one free method of allowing you to check the various surnames with the Louisiana soldiers.
