The 11th Regiment Louisiana Infantry was disbanded August 19, 1862. Companies C, D, E, F and G were assigned to the 13th Regiment Louisiana Infantry. A number of picked men were organized into a Battalion of Sharp Shooters which was known as the 14th (Austin’s) Battalion Sharp Shooters.

James Hanley, Private, Company H, 13th Regiment Louisiana Infantry, enlisted March 10, 1862 at New Orleans by Lt. Cummingham for the war, recorded as missing in Kentucky September 1862, dropped from the rolls January 1, 1863

11th Regiment Volunteer Infantry

Organization: Organized at Camp Moore on August 13, 1861. Mustered into Confederate service on August 18, 1861. Failed at reorganization in the spring of 1862. The regiment was disbanded with the men assigned to the 13th and 20th Infantry Regiments and the 14th Sharpshooters Battalion on August 19, 1862. Ordered to be reorganized by S.O. #222, Adjutant and Inspector General’s Office, dated September 23, 1862. However, this was soon deemed to be impractical.

13th Regiment Volunteer Infantry

"Four independent companies were added to the Battalion of Governor's Guards, or Avengo Zouaves, to create this regiment, which was organized September 11, 1861, at Camp Moore with 830 men. After several months at Camp Chalmette near New Orleans, the regiment left by steamer for Columbia, Kentucky, and arrived in late November. From Columbus, the men went to Corinth, Mississippi. On April 6 and 7, 1862, the regiment fought in the battle of Shiloh and suffered severe casualties. The men participated in the Battle of Farmington, May 9, and received praise for an attack on the enemy. After the evacuation of Corinth, the regiment camped for a time at Tupleo. The men accompanied the Army of Tennessee on its invasion of Kentucky in August. On October 8, the regiment performed gallantly in the Battle of Perryville. Returning to central Tennessee, the regiment went into winter quarters at Tullahoma.
